lyrics

Thrift Store Jesus

Well I never learned how not to be afraid
When I left town I had both feet
Staring down an early grave
So I put a lot of highway under my feet
And a lot of friends who had try to teach me
But protest and I were certain that I could not be saved

And then my heart fell apart
I was a man with no start
Nowhere to run, but into the dark

And I never had a backup plan for change
But I’ve got a handful in my pocket
And a thrift store Jesus dashboard saint
In the past the future never looks the same
So I’m throwing back this bottle once again
I think I can make these colours better
If I push around the paint

But when you’re heart falls apart
There you stand with no start
Nothing in your head except the dark

But you move in time how you move in time
In time you’ll move
